*original movie spoilers*
I was just thinking about the original Matrix movie, and suddenly noticed what everybody else probably already knew. At some point, Cypher is having dinner with agent Smith, and in order to enter the Matrix you need someone to plug you in. So there must be another spy on Morpheus' ship. This may simply be an error from the makers, but I'm having a hard time believing that the creators of such a brilliant movie would make such a simple mistake. Now, since the machines were after Morpheus; he obviously isn't the mole. Neither are all the people Cypher killed(why kill your own henchmen?). Since he shot Tank too, he probably isn't it either. Neo is out of the question, so that leaves Trinity... perhaps her falling in love with Neo and helping to save Morpheus was just a way to infiltrate Zion' even more effectivly. In order to bring down the intire organisation all together. Now, I haven't seen the second movie yet, so don't spoil me with facts that weren't in the first; but what do you guys think about this theory? |
I actually thought about this a while ago, but not in any depth. It just crossed my mind "how was cypher in the matrix then?" but it passed.
But you have a good point. I wonder...... hm... |
You ever think he just set it on auto while they were sleeping? maybe its a little more dangerous or something so that is not standard procedure or something, but there definitely was not another mole on board, everyone else but neo morphy trinity and that other dude died. and everyone else he was planning on killing, and there wouldn't be any reason to kill your partner if you had one.
I think its safe to assume that while the rest of the crew was sleeping he was up on watch or something so he programmed the system to put him in and take him out of the matrix. maybe he programmed it so when he called a number on his cell phone a program made the phone he was standing near ring, so he could get out of the matrix. It's definitely not the clearest part, but its safe to assume that there were no other moles, and that he was capable enough to complete the above actions. Even so it's a move you have to give it a little room, it is a nonfiction story. ;) |
Cypher did indeed automate his entry into and exit from the matrix. I believe the W brothers commented on this once when asked. There is no other mole.

Or he could have written a program to simulate himself in the Matrix. This would mean he doesn't have to run the risk of plugging himself in and he can always cover his tracks later by erasing the program.
|
What you have to remember is that later on in the film, when Neo and Trinity are preparing to rescue Morpheus, they both begin to program their own stations - this is a definite indicator that you can indeed put yourself into the matrix through automation of the insertion process.

I simply find it improbable that no one else on the entire ship would not notice him plugging into the Matrix, especially when someone has to locate an exit and telephone you in order to exit. |
