okay, ever since LOTR came out, there are many fantasy books coming out as well. i have seen all of these book in the bookstore and i was really wondering which ones do you prefer. i have already read D&D, Magic and Forgotten Realms

one thing nice about D&D is that it is really for role playing style in the book itself but it is too short
forgotten realms is nice too with the books like the summoning and good story.
magic i have only read one book and so far, it is okay for people who like the world of magic the gathering game card...

so i was wondering which fantasy book do you prefer... i have seen all of them in the bookstore and i am considering which fantasy do you like... is warhammer just as nice? i have seen it but they also have guns, which i dont like that much but still open minded to read it. there are also other magic the gathering books... D&D and fogotten realms also have new books but i only have enough money to buy a few.. suggestions?

I myself just finished "The Temptation of Elminster", now I'm reading the Icewind Dale trilogy. I liked them, and the Icewind Dale trilogy is looking nice, you might consider them. oh, and they're FR books if you didn't know.

in general the FR books are very readable, also the dragonlance series and spinoff

I think the first few Dragonlance books are abosutley awsome. Best books I ever read.

The Chronicles Serries and the Legend Serries..Those are some gooood books.

As with most of TSR's shared world books, Dragonlance, Greyhawk, and Forgotten Realms all have shining examples of exactly what the setting should be like, (almost anything by Weis and Hickman in DL, Slavatore, and Cunningham in FR, and Elrod in Ravenloft), while they all have a fair amount of crap, and genuinely useless drivel (I hated the Dragonlance preludes, but then how can you expect a different author to get someone elses character "right".)

I haven't read any Warhammer books, so I couldn't say... you could always go to a bookstores sight like barnes and nobles, or amazon and check out review for the books, generally reading several reviews will give you a fairly good idea of what to expect from both the author, and the book.

I agree, the war of the twins still rates as one of the best trilogies ever

what about a long forgotten classic, the Belgariad by David Eddings

it would be sweet to have a movie based on the dragonlance saga....
