Enterprise that is, last season they had an episode with the Ferengi, and it ended with Archer telling them that if they ever showed their faces again it would be a short and deadly (for them) confrontation. the Ferengi left frightened and beaten (with the little guy in charge of his cousins ship).

This episode bothered me and alot of trekkies on this and other boards, that is it bothered me until last night, when RevRuby and I watched "Encounter at Farpoint" the pilot episode of ST:TNG (i got the first season as an early x-mas present) where the Ferengi were mentioned and there was no hint of curiosity a to what this strange race was that hadn't been seen in the trek universe yet. to me this means that things are fine and I'm not in the least put off by Enterprise, they merely made the contact with the Ferengi before they were widely known in the treck universe, but the data from tehir voyage apparently survived as Pickard knew what they were.

WHEW! I'll sleep better now that that is cleared up :D .

I've actually heard guys arguing about this before, which means I'm travelling in the wrong circles. :D Overall Enterprise has not captured my interest, there were a few good episodes, but nothing that has got me hooked like I was with TNG.

Can't wait for Nemesis!

Or Voyager & DS9 ;)

Can't wait for Nemesis too, hope it does better than Insurrection did.

I didn't really get into DS:9 until Warf came on board, then I noticed Judzea Dax and i watched it religiously, and Voyager... well, I hate Janeway (supposedly now an admiral in Nemesis) and couldn't get past her to like the show, much as I wanted to.

Ironically I think bringing Worf to the sreies is the worst thing they did to DS9. <- Rick Berman

Oh, BTW it's "Jadzia"

The only thing I liked about that series (beside Dax) was the Defiant... that ship was COOL (I named one of my servers at home after her ... GEEK!)

Not to get too geek here, but Enterprise can side step much of the established 'history' of the Trek do the to coop-out of introducing the whole 'Temporal Cold War' idea.

SpiritWarrior 12-04-2002 05:30 AM

Ya big geek

The temporal cold war thing worries me. Berman has said many times that he doesn't like the original series. Some of us see this as his way of erasing Kirk, Spock, etc.

Thoran 12-04-2002 08:11 AM

Part of what makes Trek so great is the historical continuity... throw that away and what have you got? A bunch of individual episodes that may or may not add anything to that universe. Next they'll say that the "Prime Directive" doesn't exist anymore (although Kirk played pretty fast and loose with the rules... it's been fairly well stuck to in newer series').
