Being the drow fan I am, I was thinking of buying Daughter of the drow. Can anyone tell me if it is any good, and if there are any other books in its series? Also, I am thinking of starting on the Dragonlance series. Which book is first(providing its worth reading)?
Thx in advance. |
Dreamer, I've got the damned thing, on Ziroc's recommendation, but I quit reading it after the drow magician murders the little girl's mother, for no apparent reason. That was enough for me. If you want it, I'll mail it to you.

I would give Daughter of the Drow and Tangled Webs (the 2nd book of the trilogy, 3rd comes out next year) solid recommendations. It's interesting how Elaine Cunningham portrays the Drow as opposed to R. A. Salvatore's all-Drow-are-super-evil-except-Drizzt point of view. I liked how the main character in the Daughter of the Drow series struggles with her identity--she tries to be good, but it's hard to shake off her drow heritage and all the prejudice and hatred she grew up in. I found it to be a very good read, very refreshing.
As for Dragonlance, I'd start with the Chronicles trilogy and if you like that, move on the the Legends trilogy which is also good. |
Yeah, start with Chronicles then move on to legends, After that, maybe read Dragons of Summer Flame. Then Maybe go and find the War of Souls Trilogy. Don't be put off by 'some' of the series' not-so-good books tho. It among the best series I've ever read and i still pick up the odd book or two whenever i'm at a library for a re-read

Along the same lines I'd like to recommend the Legend of Huma By Richard Knaak, and to a lesser extent, not as good but still a fun read, Kaz the Minotaur by the same author.

I also strongly recommend Daughter of the drow. It is a very good novel.

The Drow books by Cunningham are quite good. They show another aspectof the drow race.. Salvatore shows a very limited side, but Cunningham explores the Drow society in depth...
Dragonlance series... The trilogies are a good place to start... But before getting caught up into the Chaos Wars and the War of the Souls, I would recommend reading a few of the many supplemental books surrounding the characters found in the original Dragonlance trilogy... These other books give good background stories on the characters and their offspring found thru out the expansive series... |

Most of the Dragonlance books are fairly good but one really stands out in my mind I'm not sure why but I loved "The Thieves Guild" Also the return of the arch wizards trilogy is a good read although the 3rd one isn't out yet.
