I just finished the third book in this series, and I was wondering if anyone had read the whole series? I was disappointed in the last book (Blood of the Fold), and wanted to know if the later books get better, or descend into mediocrity (the fate of many epic/multi-book series).

I would hate abandoning the series if it gets interesting later on...

Every SoT book you're going to read after Blood of the Fold will be quite different from the ones before it. It's hard to say if you'll like them better or worse, but personally I found Temple of the Winds only slightly better than Blood of the Fold. Soul of the Fire starts out a bit slow but once it gets up to speed it's rather good, and Faith of the Fallen is one of the best in the series if you ask me (I think the first was only slightly better). Pillars of Creation I haven't read yet, but I know I will soon.
I loved the series so far, even if some books were clearly better than others. But after Blood of the Fold you've probably had the 'worst', and I'd say it's definately worth it to keep on reading

I kinda liked all of them, each one had their special taste, even blood of the fold. But i do agree with legolas that faith of the fallen, book 6 is one of the best book i've ever read.

*shrug* They're all pretty good... read them a while ago, so don't really remember if they get better or worse... can't say any of them is the best book I've read, though. L.E Modesitt...

I was very disappointed with the most recent book, it didn't deal very much with the main plot. He created a character from nowhere and the whole book centers around that person.

I couldn't understand it at first, it seemed from the last book that the series was finally moving towards the finale, but then I read that Terry Goodkind signed a very lucrative deal for at least 3 more books, so I think he's milking the series.

I hate it when the author gets famous and then decides to stretch the series for all it's worth...a trilogy becomes 10 books instead. I much prefer a conclusion to the current main plot and then maybe start another series in the same world.

Not much disagreement here.
I agree that Blood of the Fold is probably the worst. I liked Temple of the Winds and the others that followed.

I agree with you Madriver, I don't know what else Goodkind was doing with Pillars but milking the Sword of Truth series. The only possibility I could come up with is that the Jennsen character will be involved somehow in the final battle with Jagang and that the character will continue in the next book(s)??

It isn't so much that Pillars was a horrible book... but it really didn't have anything in common with the rest of the series. I think it would've been better as a stand-alone novel.

The thought that they just threw it in to leverage the success of the rest of the series is very disappointing.

I just started the first book today. Is this series going to be like the Robert Jordan where he writes a lot but never seems to move towards the final goal much?
