Please take a moment to answer the poll

Fantasy books poll

You left out the Thomas Covenant novels by Stephen R. Donaldson. Not my favorite (that goes to LotR) but they are the most thought provoking of any fantasy series I have read. Plus they do have my favorite fantasy character of all the giant Foamfollower.

Rokenn, thanx for voting.

The list is in no way intended as an exhaustive list of all modern Fantasy books, just those I've happened to (re)read recently.

I've heard praise of S. Donaldson's Thomas Covenant books, but they are hard to find in Denmark for some reason.

David Farlands Runelords is awesome!

I voted for best for Song of fire and ice. Surly it can't be that most people find Tolkein's book to be still the best? I hate Sword of truth most. I hope that Richard guy gets killed  soon, that is the book that I will get.

Being a Goodkind fan myself, I have to ask:
What is it that you don't like about the Sword of Truth series?

Sir Mandorallen 04-06-2002 07:00 PM

OOOHHHH! Warhammer you make this hard!
Egads! which to choose as my all time favorite!!??

Ahhh what the heck! :D Eni, meni, miny, moe, catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollars...

It is not that I dislike the book but I find the Character of Richard and Kahlan to be deficient. I read the whole of the series up to Souls of fire and I feel the gradual erosion of what I consider a good book. The background where the story takes place is not well defined and is made up as Terry Goodkinds go along. The main Characters are becoming artificial and archetypal and reading the 5th book of the series had me really annoyed.

does anyone really believe in that Jagang fellow being a threat? I mean he can't possess 2 person at the same time right or 3 person. Why don't 3 of those dark sisters gang up on him without linking their power? Sorry I can't see him as a believable villian. The fact seems that Terry Goodkinds strategy is to write scenarios of women ravished to make us feel outraged against the villians and it is becoming stale for me. The series also seems to have many loopholes in it.

Regarding the book I can't really say I hate it as I did indicate that i will get the book where Richard rahl croaks. God knows there are many worse books out there.
