A while back, I saw the movie , Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I believe some of us were talking about that movie, and how glad we were that it was subtitled into English and not dubbed. Wel...another fantastic movie will be released in October, I beleive, called Iron Monkey. It has actually been out since 1993, but the U.S. is just now getting it. Must be because of the success of the previous mentioned. If anyone wants to see a Quicktime trailer of it...here is the link.Iron Monkey I really like this movie, but I don't think it will be as exceiting as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. That little girl could kick some serious arse! But...this one is supposed to be just as thrilling, as you will see in the trailer. Another movie that is right up there in action is called Zu Warriors. It is a mix of Martial art and apparently magic. It deals with Godly powers and dark evil creatures against mortality and all. Kinda feels like Mortal Combat. Anyway, the trailer for it is available in Windows Media or Quicktime. It is here. Zu Warriors So...who likes butt-kicking martial arts stuff? The director of both Zu and Monkey also did Matrix and Crouching</font> |
I've just this minute finished watching Twin brothers with Jet li, it was very good and very similar too crouching tiger according to my friend(I haven't watched it my self yet so I cannot judge).
As for your question I love martial arts films, I guess they bring back memories of me and my cousin beating the crap out of each other in the backyard when we were kids lol |
Enter the Dragon is the best IMO. Bruce Lee owns them all

I love martial arts movies!
They're just so very entertaining, but only the asian ones of course.. The non-asian ones tend to be very disappointing. I've actually seen Iron MOnkey and can safely say that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is much better.. Not just for the fighting-scenes but for the script too... Oh, and the best martial arts movie, IMO, is "The Evil Cult" with Jet Li ;) [ 03-28-2002, 01:15 PM: Message edited by: Sir ReGiN ] |
Would u classify "romeo must die" as martial arts? I liked that lots....

Lone Wolf and Cub is also very good. I am not sure if that is the name of this one (there are several of them I think). It has 2 ninja clans (one all males and one all females) hunting the Lone Wolf. It is very bloody but very good.
If you are into anime (japanese animation), I would check out Ninja Scrolls. This one doesn't disappoint. Just my 2. |

Kiss of the Dragon (starring Jet Li) is also very good. I just saw it a couple of weeks ago.
The plot is stretched in some places, but the butt-kicking is plentiful and exciting....especially at the end. |

The only thing I objected to was the way they had cut it, it was somewhat hard to keep up when they were fighting, but it had a great plot I especially liked when Jet Li kicked a billiard ball oín a guys face.brilliant action :D |
One of my favourites is Shaolin Temple 2 or (Kids from Shaolin) as it is also known. It stars Jet Li when he was younger (18 i think). What I like about the movie is the action is full on. I've noticed that the latest Martial Arts movies are more tame than they used to be.
I suppose the Jackie Chan movies are good, but they kinda come under Comedy/Action category Quote:
