I think this forum needs some more LOTR.
So, lets have a real discussion! How is it possible to make such a good movie? Or is it that good after all, comparing to the book? Is it really worth the 13 Oscars it's nominated to? Debate! Myself, I think the movie was marvelous. Ofcourse, the book was better, but I still think it was a faboulus movie. They had found good actors to play the different characters, the monsters was very good made, etc. -Mortaug, |
I never beleived the Oscars were a measure of how good a movie is just look at how many Titanic got.
The movie was awsome, it did leave out some important stuff (Sam's Facination with elves, Tom,...) I would not mind if it was 45mn longer. On the :thumbs down: part, I found the fight between Saroumane and Gandalf disappointing, as though the only spell they knew was telekenesis, and then again only if they had their staves in hand. The fight was not described in the book, so the movie director really had the oppotunity to make a great battle with Fireballs, Lightnig bolts,... :end rant: Edited: Typos [ 03-05-2002: Message edited by: Warhammer ]</p> |
It would've been kind of unbelievable if a man as old as gandalf was trapped in a gargantuan exlposion which would throw him against the wall with utmost force, then watching him be run around on fire, then be struck by lightning and live :D but it probably could of been better. But otherwise the movie was... perfect is the closest word to the feeling in mind. I loved every minute, all three times i saw it. gonna buy it on DVD, Legolas was great, i thought al the characters were portrayed wonderfully, and uhh yeah, if you havent seen it, im gonna sum it up, IT IS WORTH THE FIVE DOLLARS TEN FOLD!

Oscars seem to be more based on popularity if ya ask me... but as far as LOTR went, I found it to be a pleasing and splendid film! Maybe thats because I think that all good films have no closure whatsoever? (*COUGH* ghost in the shell *COUGH* Blood The Last Vamprie *COUGH* Lain *COUGH*)
