More details here
I am disappointed at how few nomination Harry Potter got (Only 3, including costumes)

LotR sure deserves all 13 Oscars. It is a magnificent movie. If you think that it is the most expensive movie ever made (160 million dollars I think) then it is natural to be nominated for 13 Oscars.

WHAT!?
Only 13?

Most expensive? $160 mil seems about par for the course for Hollywood films, I would think.

I wonder how much Titanic cost to make?

Darkman 02-14-2002 04:08 AM

What?? Zero nominations for Brotherhood of the Wolf?!? That is absurd. What is also absurd is that Titantic got more nominations than LoTR! The world we live in... *sigh*

Not even for the best Foreign language film ?!

Ronn_Bman 02-14-2002 11:44 AM

Actually, Titanic went waaay over-budget and cost about $200 million or so, and is, I think, the most expensive ever made. Didn't the make all 3 LotR for $160?

Statistically speaking, LotR looks like the winner for best picture. The winner is usually the film with the most nominations :D . I know this isn't the actual method used to choose the winner, but more often than not, it has worked out this way.

Ya know, I am realy losing faith in awards now adays. Nothing against lotr, it was a good movie, but awards are nothing more than an exuse for these tv productions to make money. They just nominate the most popular movie/actor(ess)/whatever just so people will watch them and all that. I think when they gave the best actress award to julia roberts(sp?) they sinked to an all new low. Quality is in short demand now I guess. But I do hope lotr wins a few.
