I am running custom soundsets DL'd from the web. The "Garrett"(Thief) soundset is significantly louder than the others. Will someone give me advice on how to go into the sound file and lower the volume? I am computer literate, but don't know much about audio. Thanks!!

Well, if you have them in .wav format or something simple, you can open them in Windows Sound Recorder (under Entertainment in Accessories) then load each sound, and say "Reduce Volume (25%)" try it once or maybe twice if you need to, then just re-save the sound and re-import it. Hope that helps,
