Has anyone read that book by Frederick Forsyth?
Those of you who haven't, read it! It's a brilliant book! But, some of you may have seen a movie with the same name, starring Edward Fox, which is definetly based on the book.. So far so good..and that movie was pretty good too But 1997 comes a movie, starring Bruce Willis, Richard Gere among others, with the name: "The Jackal" I've seen this on too Now what I was wondering was that, although the latest movie has a few recemblenses (spelling ) with the book (hired proffesional killer, powerful organisations, etc.) it also has so many major differencies that I wonder if it is supposed to be based on the book, or not.. I don't think they would make a movie about proffesional killer called "the jackal" without thinking of the book, but the differencies are HUGE! Does anybody know anything about this? IIRC "The Jackal" was supposed to be a remake of "Day of the Jackal", but, like so many other Hollywood movies, faithfulness to the original version (or even the book it was based on) is considered optional.
