Have you ever wandered about Faramirs fate? His destiny was to rule Gondor but elves and Gandalf said - back off.
Winners write history books, and winners means elves and Gandalf. Winners are good, have lofty aims, and won evil forces.

If you believe that elves are always good, peaceful - dont read further, if you believe that Mordor is responsible for every single evil act in world - dont read further. If you believe that Gandalf cared about world you are right, but he cared his world, about mages world, about world where he and his fellows could manipulate, steer nations. Where they would control.
You know that Nazguls were once kings, lords. Are you able to accept fact that Nazguls were not evil, not "demons", that some of them were scientists, that they cared about their countries, cared about people, not themselves.

And this is story about Mordor, about contry where universities began to rise, where people, trolls, orks and other species could live peacefully together. Country where some errors concerning ecology have been made: unsuccesfull irrigation of Gorgoroth plains (dissolved salt distroyed all fields) and uncontrolled expansion of metallury and mining in Mordor. Country where literature, arts were created, where philosophers could create new ideas, where steam machines were invented.
The story about mages afraid to loose their power over the world. Afraid that people will grow up, educate, will learn that they are manipulated. Afraid changes, afraid that will loose their positions.
Also story about elves. Elves are old, elves remember that in previous times they were superior, they were ruling the world, that other species were bowing their knees and necks before them. Eleves know magic, elves want to dominate, want to get their cousins from Blessed Kingdoms to MiddleEarth.

The military campaign was better or worse covered by Tolkien, but real motives, aims of all sides and their powers not.
Mordor lost, educated people are beeing extraminated by elves. Mages outsmarted themselves and cant do enything against elves. They gave elves magical artifact to control pass between MiddleEarth and Blesses Kingdoms, between human and elves universe. Elves rule.
Do you think that winners are monolite? Oh, no... Aragorn want to use remains of Mordor knowlege to get rid of elves. Elves also are not united, fractions fight with each other.
But there is a chance, chance to destroy mentioned above artifact, to cat connection between magical Blessed Kingdoms and MiddleEarth. This will destroy magic as well, but it is the only chance. Nazgul gave that impossible mission to two persons, fate of humankind is in their hands.

Magnificant history. Epic struggle against overhelming forces. Spies, murderes, black-mails. Excelent fight of intelligence and secret services. Clancy, Ludlum and Tolkien in one!
