Hey guys.

Could anyone recommend any Elminster books?

And I know, Ed Greenwood's novels are a no no.

I know I'm going to regret saying this, but...Elminster in Myth Drannor is actually not half as bad as his normal crappy fare. Ed actually manages to make Cormanthor seem elven and Elminster seem less munchinny (he's still like a minimunchkin in this one). And even though the book has some requisite flashes of nudity (one of an ancient elven sorceress who's about 2000 years old) it's not to the point where it makes the book a joke. I'm about halfway through and the mere fact that I haven't dropped it yet is a major endorsement.

Okay, thanks Memnoch.

I think I might actually try reading Greenwood's Elminster novels from start to finish. I think the character of Elminster is really cool, and who knows, maybe I'll be able to live though more than one book!

I will sell you my unread hardback of 'Making of A Mage' for the price of a paperback. I am collecting the entire series in Paperback, and have no need for hardback. I can even save you the money on postage, since I work in the mailroom of my company.

Larry, that'd be really cool, thanks.

And what does the 'OHF' stand for?

Redblueflare 08-14-2001 10:14 AM

OHF stands for Order of the Holy Flame. I didn't know there were any Elminister books. Are most of them horrible?

Thanks Larry, I appreciate it.

I'm looking forward to reading about Elminster. He seems like a cool guy, and powerful. Come to think of it, he is the strongest mortal, isn't he?
