James Clavells was a master writer.
The pace of the story, the plot twists.
I fall in love with the characters every time.
I've read all his books but just re-reading Shogun right now. It's been a decade since I read it last.
I reccomend this book and to anyone who has not read it.
Yeah it's thick but I guarantee that once you pick it up you will not be able to put it down.
Has anyone else read these adventures?

I tried, when the tv series "Shogun" was out. Couldn't get through it; I was a little young for it then.

I may pick it up again at some point. And I wish I'd grabbed the Shogun card game a saw at a con some years back. :\

Go for it Dark Piper, it's a great read.
I saw that 10 hour mini-series when i was younger and thought it
was great. Saw it again when i was older and did not enjoy it as much, but still got into it as a fan.

I've read most of the James Clavell books, and I've loved them all, but Shogun is my particular favourite.

Hey Sir_Tainly! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
Yes, i've read all of Clavell's books.
Noble House is kind of the sequel to Tai-Pan and has some characters in it who are also in King Rat and Whirlwind. Noble House is awesome IMHO.
King Rat is semi-auto-biographical about Clavell's own experiences in the P.O.W. camp called Changi during the Second World War. This is a good book too. I also enjoyed Whirlwind alot. Its story takes place in Iran at the time the Ayatollah came to power there. It has some characters from Noble House in it and also some characters who are descendents of Toranaga's.
The only one I did not like was Gai-Jin. I think it was Clavell's last book and IMHO not nearly as good as his other amazing stories!
Only about twenty pages to go in Shogun right now and am wishing it went on for another thousand pages. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/noncgi/smiles/eek.gif Can't wait to get into Tai-Pan though.
Frank Herbert is an excellent writer too though. Which of his books are you going to read? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/ponder.gif I've read all the Dune books, except the new ones by his son. Loved those books too and reccommend them highly.
