I can never find anyone who knows the name or author of this series...
A young man gets transported from reality into a "fantasy" world. Through a series of adventures, he finds that he can perform magic with music. He ends up playing a fantasy type of guitar and singing '80's tunes to conjure up stuff... I think I remember him singing a Beach Boys song to get a boat in one case. I thought they were great !!! Of course, I was kinda young at the time... and drunk... http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...miles/wink.gif ------------------ http://publish.hometown.aol.com/tobb...s/rudedawg.jpg The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes |

I don't know if it the same but I read a series by Christopher Stasheff that started with Her Majesty's Wizard, he could do magic with phrases like lyrics and Shakespeare... Is that it?

I don't remember the title but I do remember reading something like that. L.E Modesitt has a series out now about musical magic the influence is more classical than 80's though I'm afraid.
Also remember reading something similar about a computer programmer who goes to another world and finds that his skills are magical. ------------------ "if you whistle while you’re pissing, you have two minds where one is quite sufficient. If you have two minds, you are at war with yourself" (Illuminatus. 405). |
I remember something similar called the woods out back and its sequel the dragons dagger.

Maybe it's one of the "Gor" books?!
|
It might be one of the Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever books but I doubt it.

No, No
But thanks for trying more info: He is befriended by a giant otter who is a rouge-type character. They story is very tongue-in-cheek. ------------------ http://publish.hometown.aol.com/tobb...s/rudedawg.jpg The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes |
You art talking about the Spellsinger series by Alan Dean Foster. I remember reading all them a long time ago. There are about 5 or 6 books in the series.
