I finished the first book, "Canticle", but I wasn't all that impressed. I didn't think it was on a par with some of his Dark Elf work, or even with the Entreri books. Now I could be totally wrong, because I haven't read the rest of it. I'd be curious to hear from someone who has to find out if it's worth persevering through?

I haven't read it myself, but a friend rates it quite highly. He's a big Salavatore fan and likes the slightly more cerebral pace of the trilogy. Is it me or is that Vincent Price on the cover?http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...les/ponder.gif

I read the first three but could never really get into it so I never finished the series.

I read the books a few years back and I really liked them then. They were grate with nice characters like Ivan and Pikel, wonderfull chapps. But a bit to exaggarated abilities with that girl Danica or whatever her name.
Most of salvatores books ar good with the exeption of one of the later where the heroes from the Clerical quintet and the heroes from the books of Drizzt meet, I dont want to say more in case I "ruin" an allready terrible book more.

I have also read it...though I do not know if you want me to give my opinion, because I am not a critic...I like every book that I read.

Hey Memnoch, I read the quintet series. I didn't think it was nearly as good as any drow series book, but then again I am obsessed with dark elves. The series give many huge catastophic events that one Cadderly must defeat. It doesn't have the fighting that I value in Bob's books because he knows how to fight otherwise he couldn't tell you how Drizzt does it... but he does tell an interesting story.

Anyway, if you can stand a hero that fights with his noodle instead of his scimitars I reccommend it. The only thing that bugged me was the "Moral Implications" routine that frequently came up. I guess that only goes along with the reluctant hero. He didn't ask for his problems he just was made to deal with them. All in all, I give the Cleric Quintet a 7 in a a scale of 1 to 10.

I agree with most of the other opinions. They are great books, better then many of the forgotten realms books, but still not on par with some of Salvatores better works. They can't come near the dark elf trilogy.

It gets a bit boring in the situations when cadderly is by himself cause he starts out with really crappy spells but is really good when ivan and pikel are in the scene. The team-up of salvatores characters in servant of the shard is cool.

Personally I thought this was a great series. Thing about it is that you need to forget about Drizzt and company and stop trying to compare the Cleric Quintet it to them. If you don't do that, you'll ruin the story.

ive only read read the second one of that series and i cant remember what it was called but it wasnt that bad i liked the story but not cadderly he is too much of a wimp
but i understand later on when he meets with drizzt and co he is a powerful cleric so maybe thats changed
