Hey Thanx to Ironworks Gaming and ZFR I got the solution to installing BG1 on XP. I am so happy! I came close to playing Bg2 first and that just would have been wrong.
Anyway to the question at hand. Back a few years when I had actually started to play BG1 the first time I had started the game over multiple times for various reasons.(lost save files to formatting of drive, or just didnt like character Etc.) Needless to say I got extremely sick of the start of the game, especially Candlekeep. Is there any recommendations as to how to skip this? I am not sure if it would be wise for the new character to just leave without doing the measly missions, killing the thug that tries to kill u, the rats, fetching the soldiers sword Etc.(Can I live without the experience pnts most of all?) I thought of using cheats to give the character a few things to make up for what u miss if u leave candlekeep early and also boots of speed to quicken the beging of the game. Of course the cheats would end there. I think that cheating kindof ruins the fun of the game. That is why that would be a last ditch effort if no one comes up with a better solution. Please tell me your opinions, Thanx. [ 10-09-2004, 02:34 PM: Message edited by: DR.Perini ] |
Well not to my knowledge anyway. But you don't have to do the missions. You could just leave straight off. They don't earn you much XP.
Also, if you're looking for a faster movement rate and generally better game then you should download bg tutu or bgt. They convert the BG1 engine into the BG2 one. I play bgt myself, and I can tell you it's the best thing that ever happened to BG1. Good luck |

BGT and Bgtutu basically use the BG2 engine in BG1. A good comparison of the two can be found here
Also, search in the BG2 board, there is a load of information there. They are both a worthy edition to the game and I guarantee you will get many hours of fun from them. Any more questions just ask. Cheers Ross |
I would tend to recommend Tutu over BGT.

I'll add my voice to that, I've had no particular problems to date with BGTutu. But it's definitely recommended, after playing BG2 in such a comparatively high resolution, I couldnt go back to BG1 without the conversion.

Well I am trying to be reformed by a few guys over at #fwp, so I suppose I shall say that maybe bgtutu could be better because it allows more mods to be added. You can find that at the link I gave you.
