I've been up and down Undermountain several times now, and the best one I've come across is the Xanther Scimitar +8.

I see all kinds of other weapons that really spank the monkeys ass, daggers, long swords, great swords, falchions, axes but nothing in a scimitar that even comes close to being as godly as the other weapons.

Have I missed something?

Don't think so but others may have done better.

The best scimitars I've found, apart from the Xanther one, are the Desert Dustmaker and Bumbis' Scaleslice.

Still, with the critical threat a keen scimitar has you can't really expect a high attack bonus as well.

Nice to dream though.

er, what about Melt? ???

That is a good point.

Melt is quite good and all those other blades are great as well.

Most of the other weapons in EfU have a +10. I know the best Kuriki in EfU is a + 9.

Melt, I forgot about that one!

And so the race begins...

I have a fighter (10)/ WM (28) dwarf that dual wields scimitars with dev crit and he's a monster. Any of the three mentioned are pretty good.

Where might this Melt be found? I have the desert dustmaker now. I really wish I could use the Mordenkainen's Disjunction sword but alas not in my weapon spec. Thanks a lot.

W/out being too spoilerish, it's on Lvl 12, and it can be found, not purchased. Unless someone sold it. It's well worth finding though. Note: another thread here has a more specific tip, but I still don't know how to say click here for the link.

Melt is only attack bonus +12 so it doesn't bypass stoneskin/greater stoneskin/premonition and doesn't get the +12 slashing damage.

The scimitars are outclassed by other weapons damage wise so I'd either use melt for the attack bonus or Bumbis' Scaleslice for the Vorpal property (it's only DC16 but auto-fail on 1 is turned on).

Greything 08-12-2005 04:13 PM

Melt.

Yes. I did forget that one.

As Xiphias says, there is a good attack bonus but no enhancement on it. Overall I think I ended up discarding it simply because the others worked better for my character at the time.

I should probably start a new thread for this next question but can anyone help me out on attack bonus?

I have a character using daggers. Currently I use the ancient dagger of shadows or drow dark dagger. Neither have an attack bonus, only an enhancement. Yet when my character uses them his personal attack bonus is higher than if he uses any other dagger, whether or not it has an attack bonus.

Not sure how that happens. Any explanation for this would be welcome.
