I just started playing BG just recently. I currently have five members in my party and am gaining levels and inventory fairly quickly. Two of my party members have spells that I can't use for some reason. I have learned the spells, placed them in my "use" list, rested at the inn to make them available for battle and then when I go to battle and try to use them they are not available to use (They are shaded gray and not useable instead of in color and ready to use. The first member is a half-elf, multiclass, with levels of fighter- 2, mage- 2 and thief level 3. The other is a fourth level bard. The spells that I can't use are very basic such as magic missle. I'm getting frustrated that I can't use their magic and I don't want to start the game over. Can anyone help me??? Please???

Don't know if this will help - check that your magic users aren't wearing armour.

If a mage wears anything > a robe they can't cast spells, unless you happen to have drizzt's mithril mail in your other backpack. Same deal for bards.

That is right...only improper dressing of the mage would prevent him from using a spell, if you have placed it in your ready page to be selected, and have rested to memorize it. Let us know if this works, or if there is still a problem!!
