I was thinking about giving this a try this Saturday. What do I have to do? IP address? Can I start as a level 1 character? I could not find anything in the FAQ's? Do I need the most recent patch for HotUD?

The IP Address is : 24.173.154.114:5121

That can be entered into the direct connect option. Have you played online before? Do you know how to connect to other games?

Starting as a level one character would be extremely hard, moreso than you would want to put up with, methinks...unless you like dying alot. Start out with at least level 6. You would enjoy the game more.

I do not know about the patch 1.62 issue. Sorry.

IIRC, Ziroc has upgraded EfU to v1.6.2, and you won't be able to connect unless your version number matches that of EfU.

My version is something like 1.628 (Not sure about the 8) now, so I guess I should be OK.

Yes, I have played games online before. But they were Blizzard games if that makes any difference.

1.62 is the current version, so as long as you have both expansions installed you are good to go.

Let us know if you had any trouble logging into the game and we will go from there.

Logged in last night even joined up with another party for about 5 minutes before they became toast. When I joined them I could not see were they were so I could not help them. Anyway I tried a level 1 character but could not make it past the first few elite goblins. Umberhulks, drow wizards, and evil dwarves were leaking nearby so it would have been a futile attemp. A little tough for level 1 or even a level 5 character. So I used my level 9 Priest for about an hour. Explored some of the first level and the basement in the Inn.

pritchke,
As you have found out the hard way, EfU is NOT designed or balanced for level 1 characters. lol I'm not sure if Z has ever indicated what level he intended the starting level characters to be in either the solo mode or party mode.

I do know that even some Epic level characters have had problems soloing some of the deeper levels of EfU.

At one time Ziroc said that Levels 5-7 for Fighter, Rogue, Paladin,or Barbarian single class.
Levels 10 for mages, clerics, Bards and monks single class this is just for the first 3 Levels. You better hope you gain a few more levels befor hitting lvl-4 to 8 and more after that.
I wouldn't start Level-12 with less than a lvl-14 fighter or a multi-class with all tolal above 18 is good but, above level 30 is alot better. :D

You really need a party to go to lvl 12. I played a 39th lvl cleric/rogue and had a tough time solo and never got near the bosses. I did manage to "get by with a little help from my friends" (and a different character) eventually :)
