If I understand the Arcane Archer correctly it can only take 10 levels.

Let me start over, to make an Arcane Archer. First you need an Elf or Half-elf, at least one mage or one sorcerer level and then 6 levels of ranger, fighter, Paladin or Barbarian. The Book also says your can make an Arcane Archer out of your Mage or sorcerer to add combat capabilities to their repertories.

Proficiencies Needed: All simple and Martial Weapons, light and medium armor, and shields.
Skill points: 4+ Int. modifer
Base Attack Bonus: +6
Feats: Weapon focus Longbow or Shortbow, Point Blank Shot
Spellcasting: Ability to cast arcane spells

Ok I've built all of these types and I have that after 10 levels of Arcane Archer you can no longer add levels to arcane archer, the option goes black and thats all, no more levels unless you add them to your other Classes, until you reach a top level of 20 total

NOW back to my Subject Question. Has anybody heard anything about the fact that in the Next NWN Expansion the top level will be 40.
What I want to know is, will the Prestige classes be able to gain levels or not?
will we end up with a Lvl 10 Arcane Archer, Lvl 20 fighter, Lvl 10 Mage or something to that effect?

I'm still searching for the answers to this even after asking on the NWN forums but so far I havent gotten an answer!

Has anybody heard anything?

The question is, in regular 3E (epic level) PNP how does it work? I think if you find that out it will answer the question of how they will do it in NWN's , well most likely anyways.

I have all the D&D PnP and all the AD&D PnP books and I do mean ALL but I have ZERO 3E so far????????? I guess I'm going to the adventure & comic book store tomarrow to pick up some 3E books, maybe I check the on line books.

I'm fairly certain (I don't play 3e but from what I've read/heard-) you can only take a certain number of levels as a prestige class, regardless of any other factors, although if built right your arcane archer might be able to pick up another PC, like shadowdancer, or blackguard.

If I understand it correctly you can only take 10 levels of a PrC in NWN+expansions but in PnP there are more levels available. The Dragon Disciple, for example, will actually turn into a dragon at higher levels which is something they wont add into the game.

Your Arcane Archer could, of course, take more levels in Fighter or Wizard to get more feats and spells. Only the PrC are restricted to 10 levels.

Can anyone verify this?

That's right. You can take up to 20 levels in any one normal class, up to 5 levels in the Harper Scout prestige class and up to 10 levels in the other four PrCs. To advance in some classes you'll need to meet certain requirements.
As long as you take no more than three classes and their combined level does not exceed 20, nearly any combination is possible.

Reguarding the 3E PnP and the NWN rules, I think you will find they are keeping pretty close to the PnP rules. Arcane Archer will most likely not be allowed more than the 10 levels they get in the PnP version. Though using epic rules you can exceed 20th level. I currently run a 30th Level Fighter(PnP). If they do allow Epic level characters in NWN I hope they use the feats available in the Epic Level Handbook. Of course then you will be fighting Epic Devastator Beetles and the like. Very Nasty.

Thanks for your answers. What you have said is what I thought. What I read is that no multi-class will be able to exceed 20 Lvl's in any single class in NWN and that there may be three aditional NEW Prestige classes added to the next expansion but The developers at Bioware are not saying what or which new Prestige Classes they will be, also there is mention of, Group Teleport to any place on screen, and Create and Enchant Items as long as an Item already exists you won't have to go looking for it or buy it your wizard can create it or alter and Enchant a sword or Bow you already have but only to a pre-set limit.

If you mean Hordes of the Underdark there will be six Prestige Classes:

*Dragon Disciple
*Shifter
*Dwarven Defender
*Divine Champion of Torm
*Weapon Master
*Pale Master
