I'm planning to play BG1 again for the first time in a rather long time. I've downloaded several of the WeiDu Mods in my BG2 game, then I noticed the TuTu Converter and Fixpack for BG1. I especially like the idea of having the all the BG2 classes and kits available in BG1 - but I have a couple of questions.

1) Does the Converter work well? I noticed that several members mentioned different bugs and the Fixpack seemed to address some of those. If I install the Converter and the Fixpack, will the game run OK?

2) Does the BGT version add tougher monsters and encounters (similar to the Tactics Mod for BG2)?

3) Will the Converter apply to games already in progress, or do I have to start a brand new one?

Answers, tips, advice, and suggestions on these (and any other points I missed) would be greatly appreciated.

The converter works fine for me. I'm using it right now. Occasional crashes (pretty rare with the fixpack), but otherwise runs pretty smooth. You have to start a new game, because you are technically playing a mod game in BG2; you are not actually playing in BG1, so can't use that game.

I'm a little confused now. Do I download the Tutu Converter into my BGII file or BG1? That's probably a silly question, but your comment about it technically being a Mod for BGII has me somewhat confused.

Yes, Tutu is technically installed on top of BG2. You first install BG1 (full install), then BG2, patch them both, and then install Tutu in the BG2 directory. (There are some detailed instructions in the readme about all the steps you need to take). After it is installed, you must run the BGMain.exe file in the BG2 directory.

For more information, I'd suggest taking a look at the Tutu homepage: http://www.pocketplane.net/tutu
The Tutu Fixpack is also available from the Pocket Plane Group, and The Gibberlings Three have released a Tutu Tweak Pack that is well worth the download, as well: http://www.gibberlings3.net/tutu/index.html

If you go to BG1tutu's website they have very simple easy instructions on how to install it properly, and which parts of which files may need to be changed to install.

I would also recommend bgt to you if you are patient enough/have an ADSL connetion, its more sophisticated than tutu, and the transition is much smoother. I play it and its great, it does use tactics AFAIK.

ok just checked with Bardez himself, no mods on if all patches are installed, but you can add them if you wish.

Hey Cerek,

I hope you dont mind if I use your thread to ask a question of my own! :D BTW I had no trouble installing either tut or the fixpak and so far up to clearing Naskel mines- no crashes.

Does BG2 & then TOB continue from BG1 using Tutu? Or do I have to uninstall tutu before moving on to BG2?

Firestormalpha 06-21-2004 04:53 PM

You have to use the uninstall to play BG2

I havent played tutu, only bgt, but you dont have to uninstall tutu.
