I noticed while playing the OC there is an ability cap. According to nwnwiki there is a +12 bonus cap http://www.nwnwiki.org/Ability_cap

Is this cap only for OC or for other modules as well. Is it changed in the expansion?

The cap for all ability attributes is 12.

Edit: That is to say that the bonus you can get on any one is twelve. You could get a +12 on all of them if you had the proper gear. The cap is "engine controlled", and applies to all modules that haven't hak'd it out, if any have.

thats why my archers dex bonus hasnt improved!

It will improve, if you add stat points to dex on lvl up. I have an archer posted in the EfU forum with a 50 dex, including her +12 bonus. The bonus is capped, but you can add points until you run out of lvls to add them, with feats, and the stat point you get every 4 levels.

50? that's 38 without items. How can you get so much?

It's a trade off, elves can have a starting dex of 20. The thing you have to decide when you do that is what kind of gear you're going to have, and what kind of stuff you're going to be fighting. In just a run through the OC's, I don't think I'd push it like that, since you're going to come across all kinds of opponents. However, to run in Undermountain, with the right gear, a wisdom of 8 won't be so bad, because you can get immunities to mind spells, and you can get fort save items, or constitution boosts from items.
In a low magic world, I'd have done her a bit differently, but when you have the gear, you take advantage of it.

I still don't understand how you reach 38...

It's +1 stat every 4 levels. At level 40 it's +10

20+10=30... what next?

Once you get to epic levels, level 21, you can take the Great Dexterity feat. It adds one point of dex every time you take it.

ok thanks.

Still it would be nice if no such cap existed. Or if it was level dependent...

robertthebard 10-27-2006 05:10 PM

In a way, it is level dependant. At least, the maximum value is. After all, my archer had to be lvl 40 to attain the 50 dex.
