I have a level 4 illusionist and wanted to test him out so I decided to fight him against Thalantyr just to see what would happen and reload after the fight. So I hit him with a bullet to turn him hostile. He summoned some taslois then he decided to cast a lightning bolt. Instead of the lightning bolt hitting me it went right by me, bounced off the wall, and killed Thalantyr himself. I tried the same thing with level 5 Xan and he did the same thing except with Xan I went up to him with the moonblade and took 20 hit points out of Thalantyr and he didn't even turn hostile until I cast a Larloch's Minor Drain that took 1 hit point of damage from him. The lighting bolt hit Xan this time but didn't kill him, so I just moved him out of the path and let it kill Thalantyr. Must be the AI acting up or something.

Yep, the AI doesn't take into account the fact that Lightning Bolt is an incredibly lethal spell in close quarters. Humans can take the precaution of always standing a great distance away from the target of a LB spell, and thus ensure that they won't get hit by the rebound, but the AI simply isn't complex enough to know that casting LB indoors contains a very high random chance of instant death.
