What are the requirements for the Toolset?
I can play the game, but when I try to open the toolset, it says it's unable to create a 3D window and then shuts down. Thanks in advance |
What's the exact error you're getting? I thought both requirements are the same but I've seen some similar behaviour when I had multiple openGL programs running and gmax would complain about it.

First I get a warning that I'm not running 32 bit color (I run XP and CANNOT figure out how to change it. I don't have the option. It won't let me change the color at all).
Then I get an error that says: "Could not create 3D preview window. Please check that you are running the latest drivers for your video card. This program will now exit." I hit OK. Then it says: "Abnormal program termination" And that's it. I forgot about the warning I get...so I assume that's the problem. So how in the world can you change that?? |
Think I know what might be wrong.
To change your desktop to 32 bit color you have to I think right-click then properties. Then one of the tabs has resolution and color in it. Or you can get there via your settings somehow. If that doesn't work do you have your video card's drivers updated or installed at all? [ 10-29-2004, 12:57 PM: Message edited by: philip ] |
The only thing I have available to me is 16 bit. There is nothing else in the drop down menu. I just recently acquired this computer... :\ I'm used to Windows 98 where I had all those color options already :\ I've not dealt with video drivers and such very much because they were already up to date and working.
So I have no idea what I'm looking for in order to fix it. [ 10-29-2004, 02:23 PM: Message edited by: Beth ] |
It looks like you haven't got any video card drivers installed cause then you'd be having those other options there. That your monitor is working correct doesn't mean the driver is installed, I always need to install the driver in windows as well cause I can't use all options of my card otherwise. What video card do you have?

Looks like you havn't got a 32bit Video driver installed. 2 things to do.
1) Go to your video card website and download the latest drivers 2 Run windows update and see if Microsoft have a later driver for you. It should work after that. |
That's proving to be a challenge! Finding the drivers that is...
I have Trident Video Accelerator 9440. That thing must be scarce... EDIT: TDC! I notice you gave some one advice about updating their trident video card. ANY clue where the updates can be found? The website it a bust - the page goes nowhere. [ 10-30-2004, 06:07 PM: Message edited by: Beth ] |
Hey Beth,
You should be able to download it from here http://members.driverguide.com/drive...?driverid=3556 Note you need to sign up for Driver guide and last I checked it was free. Hope this helps. Cheers! |
