To quote SixOfSpades from a previous post:

"Or start getting happy with Durlag's Goblet--its Info screen is actually wrong: It doesn't restore a certain amount of HP with each drink, it restores your FULL AMOUNT! Let those Aishirukuru backstab you all they want, you've got the Holy Grail of (nearly) Infinite Health."

The problem is that once a PC/NPC "drinks" from the goblet, that character is cursed and will panic (even without any threat in sigth). I have tried using the helmet of Kiel (protection against panic), but the character still panics.

I have also tried casting the curse-breaking spell, but that has no effect.

Any ideas on how to neutralise the side effects of this goblet ? That would really take the pain out of healing characters who have a lot of hitpoints. Thanks !

well the only way I can think of is by manually doing it yourself with NE, if you are familiar with the layout then try it.

Durlag's Goblet is a cursed item.
"Cursed" items are called that for a *reason* and it would be less than ethical to remove the downside of a CURSED item... In my opinion, it would be cheating.
I *do* hear where you're coming from, though... When your chars get a lot of hit points, and you are without spells like Heal or Greater Restoration from later games, it can be a huge pain to heal your tanks. But, sadly, I suppose you'll have to just deal with it.

Oh, and by the way, it's my experience that chars will run at the sign of a threat, but not for no reason at all. It sure SEEMS like they run for no reason if you use it as soon as you get it... but a dungeon is certainly threatening. I tried using it in a town and they were fine.
Of course, it could be a fluke, and this was a while ago.

Sorry, RoSs, but I do not want to "hack" this item because I am trying not to cheat.

Thanks for the explanation, Illumina. I did try to use the goblet ouside the dungeon (in BG city), but good old Khalid still panicked anyway.

Guess I'll have to continue with healing spells and tons of healing potions .... sigh !
