Does anyone ever give you a quest to go to UB? I know you can go whenever you want(if available), just wondering if anyone ever sends you there.

Nope. It's just an additional destionation you can go to whenever you want to...

unless of course you are playing bgt. In which case scars sends you (although you dont have to go) after bg1 is finished and tells you to go and incestigate some mishaps, which I thought was quite a clever way to put it.

Uhhh.....except that Scar is supposed to have died before the end of BG1. Does BGT change that?

That and once you 'finish' BG1, that's it... You're supposed to 'finish' the ToB quests before the final battle. The game ends after the final battle.
