Hey there im new to the forum and was just wondering which characters you all think make the best team my party is as follows -

Main Character lazarus reklaw ranger(see fav characters post)

then the followong -

Khalid - good in a brawl and decent with a bow
Jahiera - handy for healing spells if a bit crap in a fight
Imoen - good thief decent with a bow (i have her at 100% lockpick 100% find traps)
Coran - outstanding with a bow decent in a fight (i have him at 135%stealth and 90% pickpocket)
Dynaheir - good range of attacking spells handy with a slingshot not so good for defensive spells though

with the right equipment i think these make for a well balanced party and work well together as all of good allignment... well apart from jahiera who keeps moaning about my leadership and saying were a bunch of do-gooders (reputation 20)

That's a good, solid party for BG1: 4 Warriors, a Priest, 2 Thieves and a Wizard. The only flaw I see is that your only Priest is a Druid: In BG1, Clerics are much better than Druids. Your party isn't "perfect," but so what? They're still more than enough to sail straight to the end of the game with flying colors, and I doubt you're going to competely rearrange your party now (in Chapter 5) just because there's somebody who might be better.

Some might argue that Minsc and Branwen could easily substitute Khalid and Jahiera - and that you should dual Imoen to a mage at lvl 6. But that is - as Six said - your choice only. You have a tough party, that is able to take you through the entire game (including TotSC).

i had minsc but replaced him with coran as minsc is kinda of a one dimensional character good at hitting things with big swords but not much use at owt else(although i have played BG2 and hes better in that) i left his body in the cloakwood somewhere, kinda heartless i know but if you remove him from party dynaheir goes as well. But thats just my opinion afterall

Minsc and Boo have always been my favorite characters. As for leaving his body for dead... I usually do the same thing to Khalid (he's such a whining poof!) in a death-or-glory run unarmed against the ankegs... straight after FA Inn. After he's dead, I often pick up Ajauntis, who just happens to be waiting for some shoes to fill, and fill them he does ! If I'm playing a cleric (I Often enjoy life as a dwarven fighter/cleric), Jaheira runs after Khalid in a fitting Romoe/Juliet kind of way and the two most annoying characters in the whole series are nicely dealt with.

But that's just my opinion... it's your game, all the characters can be used to make a good party, you have a good balance of abilities and if you're happy with it, well that's all that matters. Enjoy the game

i definately agree that jahiera is a bit of a moaning cow and will definately be replaced if i play through it again

I always loved Jahiera... I enjoy her comments and her whatnots, though I admit that her voice is a bit annoying in BG1. In BG2, it's much better.
Though I admit that the Omnipresent Authority Figure started out funny and did in fact get old the thousandth time I heard it.
But of course, that's just me. I can't stand Minsc in BG1, because his voice irritates me... but in BG2, he's much more tolerable.

Its jaheiras "theres a hole in mother earth i would plug it if i could" that annoys the hell out of me i felt like telling her to stick her head in it and see if that would work.

<font face="Verdana" size="3" color="#00FF00">Main Character - Ranger
Minsc - Ranger
Kiven - Ranger
Imoen - Theif
Dynaheir - Mage
Branwen - Cleric

Found using every Ranger I could get my hands to be one of my strongest parties.

The most powerful team I could put together... hmm.

Imoen, replaced with Coran when he becomes available
Kivan
Ajantis
Xan
Branwen, replaced with Yeslick when he becomes available

This party makeup worked superbly. Everyone except Xan can fight well, and even he has his Moonblade. Magic's taken care of with Xan and Yeslick (who needs evocation?), and Yeslick has an excellent Dispel Magic ability. Kivan and Coran outshoot and outsneak anything. And it's a party of good guys, so I didn't have to put up with any whiners!
