I am in the first layer of the Creator's Ruins under the caves north of Port Llast, I've gotten past the guardian golem and the door won't let me through without the proper key. I've searched everywhere for it on this level, but it's not here. ???????????????????????????

In which case he was probably carrying the key on him.
