So far for me(just entering the Cloakwood) only Imoen and Kivan have stayed in the area I dimissed them.

You can dismiss NPCs inside a house and close the door, then most of the NPCs will stay there forever.

Everything depends on how happy they are with the party's Reputation at the moment you drop them. If your Rep. is 16, then Kagain will be unhappy and complaining, and if you boot him from the party (no matter where you are), he will wander off and you'll never see him (or his equipment) ever again. But if your Rep. was 8 or so, he'll be quite pleased with the way you're running the party, and will stay put, hoping to work with you again.

Of course, that's not always the case... I seem to remember Kivan, after me picking him up and dropping him off early in the game, getting fed up that we're not going after Tazok, and wandering off to find him himself. There *might* be some other times when that's the case.. I don't recall.

When I dismissed Kivan the conversation went something like "we need to go to the bandit camp and we need to hurry" .. or thereabouts. Strange thing was we had DONE the bandit camp,,,, 'cause the Cloakwood was now open to us. Anyway, I dismissed Kivan to pick up Ajantis, but Kivan didn't wander away.

Well, I remeber that I dismissed Kivan before going to bandit camp... after dismissing him three or four times he would not disappear but would not join my party again... and my reputation was high

Now we are talking about dismissing and disappearing: I took Yeslick into my party and immediately dismissed him again. After that I had problems to reach the stairs down to the next level, because Yeslick engaged in conversation again and again to ask if he could join my party. Finally I reached the staircase and got rid of him.

IMO Yeslick was worse than Noober, when it comes to annoying NPCs :D

Minsc did his 'nana on me this time through... I wanted to keep Edwin and Minsc and kill dynhier. So I rescued her, let Gnolls kill her, then invited Edwin back into my party... this seemed to work for a while, until suddenly minsc lost patience with me for not rescuing her (as if I'd waited too long to get her) and attacked... so I had no option but to kill him and find someone else... a sad loss... and poor Boo :(

InsaneBane 02-03-2004 03:10 AM

Did you kill poor Boo too?????
