I'm having a little bit of trouble. I'm using the wands in the same order that my journal says, but not much is working. I use the stoneskin wand on myself (?), then the slow on the automaton creature, who always seems to make his save. After using the slow wand, he attacks. He makes his save vs the air wand too, leaving only the fire wand which usually does 2 or 3 hp damage. Then I just fight until I die, which isn't very long, even with 5 levels of fighter and 1 of mage.
Any advice?

You need to use the stoneskin wand on the creature. All of the wands go on the creature.

sheesh hangs head in shame.... i didnt have time to do all that so i jsut blasted him to kingdom come. had to wait till i leveled up a bit though...
