I am presuming XP only go to survivors of kills. Is this true? Do "odd" points go to the leader? TIA.

good question about survivors... dunno if you get EXP for dead characters (wouldnt think so, but held or otherwise out-of-action players get it).

On the subject of division, Im pretty sure its divided evenly, with left over points being awarded to characters highest in the roster first

If the character is dead at the time of gaining XP, they do not gain any of it. This includes after they are raised! If you are still alive, no matter your status or distance from the kill, you will still get an equal share. As far as uneven kills go, lets use this as an example. You kill an xvart, which is (example) 15 XP. Your party of six each gain 2 XP, leaving 3 left over. The top three members of your party by roster (the portrait order on side) each gain 1. If you gain less XP then the number of party members, the ones near the bottom gain none.

Also of note is the EXP earned from kills scored by creatures not allied with the party--there isn't any!

Example: Edwin casts a Skull Trap in the mouth of the little cave that is Mulahey's "Throne Room." But, sadly, he's not quick enough to escape the Kobolds and Skeletons that appear right behind him, and he dies. Mulahey now charges forward to join the battle, takes a lot of hits from your party members using ranged weapons, but what actually kills him is (wouldn't you know it) Edwin's Skull Trap. Since the kill was not performed by a member of the party (or a creature allied to them), the party gets 0 EXP for the kill.

Another Example: In the city of Baldur's Gate, you find yourself battling an Ogre-Mage--in the middle of the street, and in broad daylight, no less! Never a Flaming Fist when you need one..... anyway, he finishes casting Fireball just as you finish casting Dire Charm. The Ogre-Mage is now on your side, but the Fireball hasn't landed yet....and when it does, it burns you a bit, and also roasts two Commoners. And because the kill of innocents is attributed to your team, it's you who take the Rep hit. Ouch.

oh, that sux!! really bad... also, if a charmed creature gets the kill, does the party still get experience, and if so, does the charmed creature get a share?

SixOfSpades 01-20-2004 05:51 PM

If the kill is performed by the party or an allied creature (green circle), th eparty gets the EXP and any potential loss of Reputation. EXP is not shared among Summoned/Charmed creatures.

In other words: If a creature charmed by your party makes a kill, then your party gets the XP (nothing to the charmed creature).

If on the other hand a charmed creature dies by an attack from an enemy (red circle), you get NO XP for that kill.
