Unarmed, there are plenty of good gloves out there. If you dual-wield kamas you will get a penalty to attack bonus. This can be overrided by taking feats such as Ambidexterity and Two weapon fighting, or taking a level of Ranger, but I would still recommend Unarmed as it counts as one weapon and not two despite that you have two hands.

If you use a Quarterstaff you will loose the attack bonuses and number of attacks and you will end up with the same bonuses and attacks as a Cleric so I don't recommend it.

Can someone give an example of 'lets say' the best three or four gloves that a monk can use? I found Twin Fists of Fire in SOU, they seem pretty cool. Any other ones that can match +4 hit enhancement, and I think 1d6 fire damage.

In NWN's its gloves of the Hin Fist +3 which I believe give +2 of sonic damage (I don't remember getting anything better in the game). In SOU its twin fists of fire which gives +4 fire damage/+4 hit (and another unbelievable twin summon once a day), or Hin Fist +5 which gives 1d6 of sonic damage.

Unarmed attack is FAR superior to just about ANY weapon (especially when you consider the elemental damage from gloves) - it most certainly IS the best "weapon" in the game at Monk level 16 where it becomes 1d20 (and you should really consider acquiring the feat improved critical for unarmed strike if you haven't already). If you have SOU then you should seriously think about Greater Cleave and Circle Kick.

BTW, strength modifiers really add up the damage with unarmed attacks because the monk attacks so often.

My monk found Hin Fist +4 and Long Death +3, both pretty good in the OC.
A monk with just fists (and feet) is almost too easy by the time you get to level 14+. He is incredibly hard for enemies to hit and his fists do very nice damage (by 15 I think you are at 1D20 damage plus any bonuses).
