Was playing on Z's server in a party of two alongside this insanely efficient monk. He claimed he had an armour class of 46 and still he did as much damage as my strength 20 warrior. So now I ask you, how would I go about making a monk that would match or even out do that guy?

Okay, so you want a Monk aye...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Start with an ELF and Dexterity will be your 1st priority. Stay with your best Reflex feats, stacked with optional quick movement opportunity's and choice's. Like Mobility, Lightning reflex's, Weapon finese.
Without any costume weapons, to still compliment your defensive skills, you should be able to get an AC of 47 at level 14 Monk. +5 AC bonus items start at a required level of 10. Add dexterity from that point on. If you are playing an earlier version , say 1.26 Monks had a 1 point armour bonus in the sheild modifier unacounted for additional AC. Quick and deadly characters in battle. The best I would say in the begining of NWN. I think that is about to change in Undertide.

Many of the Monks you meet online are quite Uber. I recall one occasion where some guy dealt massive fire and lightning damage, and couldn't be touched by any of our weapons :(

What did Atrayu mean by costume weapons?

I believe its a typo. I believe custom weapons is what was meant.

Ah, ok, thanks!

Sorry, I hope this explains it better for you Decurion, These are items made in the toolset within your own world. You can create them, use them in most mods, and finally save your characters with these specialty equipment item's in your inventory ready to play. Although legally a character can only use level 20 items, a counterpart in NWN can have as much as a level 40 reaction ;) Good luck!

My pvp monk has an ac of 59 and does something like 1-20 plus 2d6 fire, cold and acid with another 1d6, slashing, piercing and bludgeoning per hit with like 3 attacks per round. Its not that hard with min/maxing and custom items. I have seen fighters and other classes with comparable stats. Taunting fighters are also very good. i'm not sure how they get acs of over 55 without the wis bonus though.
