Okay, say you ran into one of these things in real life. Which one would make you crap in your pants?

Phase! Anything in real life that disappeared then reappeard closer to me and I did not see it coming and is that big. Not good I tell you not good. I can not shoot it if it is not there to be hit by the bullets.

Queen. One spider can be dealt with, albeit you might need a flamerthrower. A queen is very rarely found alone.

Most of the spiders around here (all of them by my knowledge) are unable to penetrate skin so I'm not too bothered by them. Of course I don't like it when they crawl down my pants, but I don't know many people who would.
Larger ones are ugly but I can put up with that.

However, when it comes to spiders the size of a mouse or larger like in NWN, especially ones trying to attack me, I'll be more than happy to run around screaming like a little girl. And at that point it doesn't matter if they are especially large, have sharp tentacles, or can't be harmed by unenchanted kitchen knives because I'll be too busy panicing. If they pop into and out of existance all the time running away may be a bit of a challenge, but I've got siblings! Take them!

In-game, the only type I can't stand are the bloated dire spiders. The rest are killable enough.
