Will raising Constituion during a level up affect more than just the curren't level's hp? For example, Jeff is a mage. Right now he has 12 hp and a con of 11. When he levels up, he raises con to 12. Will this cause his new hp to be 17 (where only the new level gets the bonus) or to 20 (where all levels get the bonus)?

It'll be 20

I am almost certain that artificial raising of Stats will NOT affect level ups. eg wearing boots that grant +2 constitution will not give you more permanent hit points when you level up... drinking potions of Fox's Cunning (or circlets etc that give + intelligence) to raise your intelligence will NOT give you more skill points.
any bonuses at time of level up are only calculated off your real "stripped naked" stats. so save your potions etc for combat NOTE: on levels you gain a new stat point, the bonuses of this stat point are not included on the current level-up. Eg. you have 13 intelligence and would normally get 9 skill points to spend. Even though you added your +1 stat to intelligence (to make it 14 and +2) you wont start get your extra skill point untill your NEXT level-up ***not sure if it's the same with Con, but that's what the manual says for Int so I assume its the same |

anyone with a pair of boots of striding +2 (and thus +2 to your con) can see that the moment you put them on, your hit points do indeed instantly jack up. Just keep the inventory and charactar screens open and try it for yourself.
Ditto Guantlets of strength adding 2 to your strength immediately increase your chances to hit and damage, again easily checked on the charactar screen. |
