Well actualy I will try to describe as best what happened to a friend of mine as I've never gone so far in this game.

When slaying the bad gay at the end of chapter one, he talks to a person requesting to return to neverwinter. Then the game unpacks a module and then it responds: Unrecognized character. Now it gives him the option to choose one of the default characters or to go on. If he does the first, then the game continues but he now has the new character and he is level 1. If the second then it askes him to initiat a new gamespy game.

I would like to point out that his computer does not have a net card or even a modem. He runs winXP sp1

Anyone knows something about that?

Not positive but could your friend have initiated and USED the Debug mode in the game?? If so, that will tag his character as ILLEGAL and the second chapter will NOT unpack under those circumstances.

I do not even know what the deug mode is so I cannot truly answer your question. But I suppose that (as I do sometimes mess with the games, but he never does - he does not even know how to mess with them!) he have not done something like that. Nevertheless I asked him, but if you have any other ideas I would be greatfull

Have you used the character outside of the NWN original campaign in another mod at anytime prior to trying to trying to get to chapter 2????

Well he once reported that during the summoning his computer hangs. So he gave me his savegame and I passed the spot and saved. Then I gave him back the new save and he continued normaly. Other from that I cannot think anything else as he does not have any other mods or aanything else installed in his system.

Okay, well that eliminates the likely cause of the problem then. Sorry but I am drawing a blank on this on. The system hanging makes me think that the problem is with his system configuration OR not having the most an up to date patch. Without more details on his system, I would recommend that he check out the technical support forum over at the Bioware NWN site - he might find something there that can help him.

He does have the latest patch as well as the lates winXP (I usualy take care of his computer once every 2 months...).
I also did not find any conflict on his system. The only thing that pazzled me (and couldnot understand why, although I searched too much) is that sometimes, when he tries to install something, it responds: You do not have administrative privilages! The funny thing is that there is only one user in the computer, the system administrator! I am positive, as I am the one installed the system!
