How can I make it so that when you open a hidden door, it takes you to another area?

Why not put a short corridor behind the hidden door and have the area transition triggered at the end of that corridor?

Obsidian the Black 02-19-2003 04:35 PM

Hmm, I could, but I would rather have the area jump from the door.

Put a Waypoint in the destination area with a tag of DST_ and the area tag. So it would work like door trigger with a tag of basement and a waypoint in that area with a tag of DST_basement would move your player to that area.

It didnt seem to work. Ok, I have one area, the inn: The Crooked Crane Tavern (tag, thecrookedcranetavern). I placed the secret door in there. Then I have another area, Under the Crooked Crane Tavern(tag,AthkatlaUndertheCrookedCrane)
Now, I placed a waypoint in the Under the Crooked Crane Tavern, with the tag; DST_AthkatlaUndertheCrookedCrane) now where do I put the secret door trigger and is there any more tags I need to add?

You could try placing an area transition trigger on the floor, but I'm afraid it won't really be a hidden door anymore if you do. I've had trouble with this myself.

maybe an OnUse script of the door with ActionJumpToObject(GetObjectByTag("wp"));
that should work i think.

Position the trigger the way you want in the Crane eg.

Hidden Trapdoor Trigger

Make a waypoint that has a tag of DST_<tag of this trigger> and when the user opens and uses the door they will be moved to that location.

The reflex save is the distance in meters that the player can find the hidden door.

The willpower save is the DC of finding this door.

This is the Description from the Bioware Hidden Trapdoor Trigger Comments tab.

This is what I got my information from originally.
