By updating the game version, can mods made with previous versions still be played, or are they lost due to incompatibility?

From the way it has been explained to me...this is what happens.
You have a module built with the 1.27 patched Toolset. You download patch 1.28. The module is still 1.27 until you go in and save it with the updated toolset. The actual game will not be affected by the upgrade until you open the game with the 1.28 patch and save the module into memory. It then records into 1.28. However, the module may not play for you until you upgrade the mod to fit the game's newest patch...but other people that have not upgraded to 1.28 can still play your mod until you make the save. And by the way...haks are only made for the version they were designed for, and can never be upgraded. If you have a game that has a hak...do not upgrade, until you find out from somebody that knows more than me how to do so. ;) [ 02-02-2003, 03:01 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
