I seem to vaguely remember Paladins getting a special Holy Sword when reaching 7th level? I seem to remember it being pretty neat. There was also something about a special steed that could be summoned too. Anybody remember about this? Did the rules change in 3rd edition?

Yes it has changed somewhat in 3E.

Nope forget about the special sword. No longer a class fearture. Now however you may "Smite Evil". Once per day a Paladin of 2nd level or higher may Smite Evil with one normal melee attack. They add their Charsima modifier to the attack roll and
additionally add 1 point of damage for each level they have attained. This stacks with all bonuses for Strength, Magic and Feats.

You still may call for a special mount starting at 5th level. This is generally a Heavy Warhorse. But, you may call for other things with a DM who allows it.
They are Tougher, smarter and generally the best trained.

At level 5-7 they have... +2HD Natural Armor 4 Str +1 Int. 6
Improved Evasion: They take no damage from attacks that allow a Reflex saving throw, provided they make the save.If they do not then they take only half damage.
Empathic link with the rider: They have a mental link with the rider that extends to one mile. They communicate telepathically with the Paladin.
Share Spells: as long as they are within 5' of the rider at the time of casting.
Share Saving Throws: using which ever is higher.

Level 8-10 +4HD Natural Armor 6 Str +2 Int 7

Level 11-14 +6HD Natural Armor 8 Str +3 Int 8
Command other creatures of the same type: Once per day. In other words they make themselves understood and can direct other warhorses, ponies, mules and donkeys.

Level 15-20 +8HD Natural Armor 10 Str +4 Int 9
Spell Resistance: Equal to the Paladins level +5.

Sounds kinda special to me. But the longer you wait the better the Mount. If your mount dies you must wait a Year and One Day to call another. It gains all the bonuses due your new levels etc...

Ahem.. your sig is a bit too large. According to Zirocs new rules, its three lines of text, max...

Do you actually get a War Horse in the Official campaign?
Or did I misread something.. and you guys are talking about a mod!?!?!
