what are the best weapons in the game? and what class are they? longsword, shortsword bow etc? is there any particular weapon type that you find more good ones of or is it balanced (ie in diablo2 all you ever find is swords which seem to have all the good stats) at the moment i put one point into short swords because thats what i was using at the time, but if its like most rpg games longswords and two handed will be the strongest, and i normally go longsword so i can have a shield too, can i have a quick run down of what are the best weapons out there and how far into the game id need to be before finding em pls?

What class are you?

If you want a list of weapons and stuff, go into your Toolset, and you can see all the game's items from there. You can even view their descriptions. If you need help finding out how to do this, post here again...otherwise, I will assume you know how to do it.

The best weapon that I have found is Gram, the Sword of Grief, two handed sword, does 2d6, +5 to damage and to hit, 15% chance of level-drain ("negative energy") for each hit. I found it in one of Piestrider's modules. :D

The best weapon I have seen is the hacked "Staff of I win" which did d6 normal damage, then about 90 seperate fire, ice, holy, negative, physical and more. I left that game as the person just samshed up doors and chests and everything.

Greetings,

This might sound odd but my preference would be the scythe(Death's Handmaiden).
I'm a rogue and I find that its x3 critical helps at time.
Especially with all the sneaking and my pumped STR. Of course I need to spend a feat for Exotic Weapon no doubt.
Still, just an opinion.

BTW Grungi,

I can't recall on how I got the Death's Handmaiden but...........

In Chpt 2, there's a certain farmer Gerrod, who will give you a quest to save his wife in an ogre lair. In there, where Dergiab the Ogre resides is a chest that gives you a random weapon depending on your weapon profiency and your level. I believe I got my scythe from there.

Scythe's are my favourite too. The critical damage is actually x4 rather than x3. I had a half-orc barbarian with 35 STR and weapon specialisation score well over 160 damage on a critical hit!! The Death's Handmaiden is also keen, so with the right feats, you can get a critical range of 18-20 for this damage :D

The toolset is called "nwtoolset.exe" and is located in the Neverwinter Nights folder (it was installed, or can be, from your CD). Just open it up and you'll get the idea.

i did the gerrol quest and i dont think i got a good weapon out of it, my random luck is bad but i did manage to find a longsword +1 with d6 cold damage on top, and im now carving up left right and centre.
