I'm just wondering which configurations are most popular. After taking the poll, post what you use.
I prefer the greataxe and have used it almost exclusively since I found my first one. I do have a mace I use against skeletons sometimes, but basically, I have 3 different greataxes in my quickslots. No sword and shield or ranged weapons for me in NWN, which is almost completely opposite how I played the BG series and Icewind Dale. [ 11-10-2002, 07:04 PM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ] |
Greataxe all the way man! I use the Stonefire Axe +1, and it works wonders..... unless the creature I'm fighting is immune to +1 weapons, or is immune to slashing weapons, and/or is immune to fire. Then I use my trusty Eaglebow.

Bastard Sword or Katana and Tower Shield, then change to Bow for the softer battle practice critters like goblins. Seems to work the best for me. Though in PnP I use the Great Axe almost all the time.

Well, I have taken a liking to the Dwarven class...and with that, I arm him with two weapon fighting. In one hand, he totes an axe, and in the other, a hammer. I find this combo most useful, as I am covering two different types of damage. For creatures that cannot be hit with one or the other, (ie..skeletons take minimal damage from sharp objects), I always have a spare item ready to replace the unusable one at that time. But I stopped using a shield way back on BGII. I found that I prefer that feel of rushing in with both arms swinging.

I always liked 2H swords and so my fighter uses one too, and is "heavily specialized" in Greatswords. As for damage, well, who cares who takes how much damage from this or that damage type - so far none remained on their feet, who came at my fighter, skeleton or demon :D

2-handed swords You know you'll always get the dagger of chaos (it's sold, not a random drop). And they look cool

Where can you obtain this, "Dagger of Chaos" from?

Tried Great Axes for awhile with my Half-Orc Barb and then gave him Harbinger Kin Greatsword. He consistently did more damage with that 2H sword than with any great axe, so he converted to 2H swords.
Paladin was already using 2H swords because it seemed right for a Paladin. Tried a few Longsword, Bastard, and Katana swords with shield, but he took more damage because it took him longer to kill stuff. Elf Rogue/Ranger dual wields (Main) longsword/flail/hammer and (Off Hand) short sword/dagger/light hammer and swaps the status/elemental damage types around as needed. This flurry of swapping activity usually occurs if she has failed to take them down by using them as a pincushion with her bow and/or traps. Wizard and Sorc do not bother. They use shoring and I-beam supports to keep the buildings’ structural integrity intact while they loot the barely visible remains of the victims of their apocalyptic magic attack. Ok, so they carry staffs, but they just use them to lean on when they do their “I am bored” pantomimes while in conversation with verbose potential targets. |

LOL, the Dagger of Chaos can be sold at the Green Griffon Inn, and also at Colmarr's shop in Luskan.
