I used animal empathy on one of the in animals in the cages, now I'm unable to complete the Blacklake Zoo quest because the lion seems to have become a permanent member of my group! I'm unable to release it from domination, nor is the charm the expiring like it usually does. All the other animals have been led through the portal, but the druid just tells me there is still one missing.
Has anyone else encountred this bug and is there a way to fix it? What do I get for completing the quest. If I had known this, I would have at least charmed the panther. Would have been a better fit since my guy is the stealthy type. I'm really mad seeing as how the I'm being punished for doing the correct RP thing, and the druid who gives the quest said something about using my animal empathy anyway. |
Are you running 1.24?
I haven't heard of this one, but the easy answer is to reloading prior to "charming" the animal. |
Hmmm...what happens if you remove your weopons and slap the poor dumb beast? Will the charm spell wear off? If it is a hang-up bug...you could try it, then recharm it and see if that works...I guess...I hope...we'll see...

I'm running 1.25. Hoping this will be fixed with 1.26. I read on the Bioware forum about others having this problem. No one seems to be able to do anything about it though.
My last save aside from my quicksave is well before I started the zoo quest. Unfortunately, I qsaved before I tried to send the beast through the tree, but after I charmed it. I really don't feel like running back through the Blacklake district again. The sad part is, I'm usually fanatical about saving so these things don't happen. I tried attacking it, after upping the difficulty level. Even on the higher difficulty levels the stupid thing just stands there and takes it. Doesn't even leave my group. |
Quicksaves can be even more of a curse than they can be a cure because each one removes the last.
Saving frequently is SUPER important in games like this. Only use quicksaves for a quicksave, not an important save. Anytime you think something "might happen", "could happen", or "will happen" make a named save. I never play for more than 15 minutes without making a named save if at all possible. Named saves are a time saver in the long run. I hope 1.26 will fix this for you, but if not, remember, quick saves are just time savers.....named saves are GAME SAVERS! :D If this sounds too much like preaching.....sorry, but this is the advise I wish I'd been given years ago...LOL! :D [ 10-13-2002, 07:26 PM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ] |
I found that after I updated to 1.25, that I had more bugs. So i went to www.nwn.bioware.com and got the beta 1.26 patch. Just remember that before you update to the real 1.26 you have to uninstall the beta version. I found that the beta version helped in some of the bugs that ppl are encountering. Included the whole animal empathy thing. (it doesn't really effect me cuz I'm a 11 level Dwarven Fighter.)

I'm wondering. What happens if you rest?
|
From what a friend told me, if you rest, the charm doesn't wear off either. I will have to agree with Ronn_Bman, in you may have to reload before the "charming" incident.
|
Seems like I will, seeing as how the patch didn't help. It's ridiculous though. I've NEVER had a game that penalized me like this for doing the correct rp thing. For a variety of reasons, NWN is becoming less appealing to me the more the I play it. This little incident only makes it even less endearing.
