Please can someone give me a link to where i can download the latest patch without waiting in a queue?

Just use the update program in the software. It will automatically update you to the latest version, v1.24.

Unfortunately, some [img]graemlins/madhell.gif[/img] firewalls [img]graemlins/madhell.gif[/img] don't allow the autoupdater. There's a guide to manually patching the game here.

In almost every popular firewall for personal use (ZoneAlarm, Tiny etc.) you are able to configure how the firewall will react to requests not matching to any rule.
Change the configuration for those requests to something like *ask* (at least for the update period) and you are able to deny or allow specific requests via message box.
This will allow the autoupdater to function properly.
