Hi all!

Does anyone know a way of getting a Voodoo4 4500 32MB graphics card to work with Neverwinter Nights? I borrowed Neverwinter off of a friend to see what it was like, but found that the mouse icon isn't displayed.

Any help or advice would be appreciated .

1. Look for drivers and patches from bioware and 3dfx and the card manufacturer.

2. Make certain you have the latest direct-x

3. Turn off all of the 3d features, in never winter nights.
a. Turn them back on a couple at a time util you find the culpret
b. Email bioware and notify them of the issue.

Try this out:

Open the nwn.ini folder
Scroll down until you find this line under Video Options: Enable HardwareMouse=1
Change the line to read: Enable HardwareMouse=0

That should make the mouse icon appear

It worked for me with my Voodoo 5500.

From the NWN known problems page

1.07 Problems running the game with 3DFX cards

3DFX is no longer in business; although some Voodoo 5 cards may work occasionally they are no longer supported by 3DFX and available drivers do not generally include complete OpenGL support required for Neverwinter Nights. Hence, 3DFX graphics cards are not supported by NWN.

Doesn't sound like good news :(

That's true about NWN not officially supporting Voodoo video cards, but I have been running the game with a voodoo5 with that one fix. The only thing that is not working are the opening movies.

Brilliant Micah! The NWN.INI file fix worked just fine. The mouse is a little slow on the uptake, but definately useable. Thanks for the great advice! Dominions:

Glad it worked for you. The mouse lag may be related to the v1.2.4 patch. The game has played flawlessly previously, but I've had some problems lately with my mouse since I installed that "upgrade". Hopefuly the 1.2.5 patch will clear things up.

Only one problem with that: I can't update NWN :( . I downloaded the patch using my work PC (with permission of course! ), but because my home PC doesn't have a modem the NWN Updater won't patch. S*d it! I think I'll post a thread on this.
