I just got NWN and am playing a dwarven fighter. I'm in the peninsula district looking for the sewer entrance. I'm also raising money to get a mercenary. Here are my questions:

1. Are there any good greatswords available to me near the beginning?
2. Is the elven cleric any good? What are her quests?

I remember finding a magic greatsword somewhere in chapter one (+1). Then you can upgrade it at the blacksmith (downstairs from the weapon/armour shop in the main district) with adamantite (I think ;) ).

IIRC Linu wants you to find some chalice for her. I haven't used her but I imagine she's a reasonable cleric ;) . All henchmen have the same sort of quest, they chat a few times then ask you to go get them an item. You can do all the henchmen quests if you want, even if you only use one for questing.

There is a greatsword in the first chapter.

I think it's in either the Blacklake District or the Docks.

The sewer entrance in the Penisula is a serious of doors in the NW corner of your map. You can also access them through the "something" Estate on the Eastern edge of your map.

One thing to keep in mind when upgrading weapons is that sometimes you won't be able to use it right away. I upgraded my dblaxe and afterwards wasn't high enough level to use it.

Go to the Blacklake. On your way there, you will bump into a ugly Half-Orc in some ruined tower. He has some Adamantite among his loot.
A Greatsword +1 can be found in Meldanen's Estate, Blacklake.

Put these two items on Marrok's Forge, and he will make the Harbinger Kin +1 for you. ;) </font>
