I haven't really played online yet, but I'm having a little problem in solo mode.
My computer is a P4 Dell 8200 with a 2 Gig processor and 256 RD Ram. I defrag several times a week, have updated and certified drivers, did a full install, and have the latest patch (v1.24). I'm running the game at 1024X768 w/refresh @60. This is the recommended setup by the config utility, but the game, both audio & video, seems to skip slightly, but very noticably, at 10-15 second intervals. Now, it's nowhere near unplayable, but it is annoying as HELL to have a new machine and a new game only to have NWN run in this "herky jerky" mode. I'm not really sure, but I don't think I remember it running so rough prior to the latest patch. Any ideas? [ 09-17-2002, 11:10 AM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ] |
I bet it is the video card. Sure you have a fast PC, and 256 is decent nowadays, but not great. If you can, move to 512, its still quite cheap. You also don't mention Windows version. I assume XP, but you should mention it. You don't mention your video. This is a 3d game, although it looks a lot like BG, and other infinity engine games. Try 800x600. Turn of shadows (that's a lot of video horsepower right there). You won't miss that much. I play at 800x600 specifically for the smoothness, although I could play higher easily.

I did neglect a few details, huh?
I have a Geoforce 2 video card(I still can't believe I didn't go for the GF3), and I do run XP. I'll try 800X600 and no shadows, thanks! [ 09-17-2002, 11:34 AM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ] |
