Does picking up and switching off hirelings effect their quests?

I haven't been given a quest yet, they want to tell me more once I'm higher level. Do they continue to remain within one level of the player character after being picked up and dropped off, or do they stay at the level they were when you dropped them off, like in the BG series.

You can switch henchmen as often as you like - and complete all of their quests.

They stay at the same lvl. when you leave them, but this isn't a problem, because when you talk to them, you will have the option of asking them to lvl. up, if their lvl is lower than yours.
