Does anyone know what the hell Bioware did to the experiance points awarded in the last patch? I received 2 exp for a Minotaur and 52 exp for a Battle Devourer??? It took me a 7 min battle for the last one. I remember 2nd Edition rules pretty well and I know for a fact a Minotaur was worth about 200 exp..

No wonder my Ranger is almost done with the game and only level 12 :rolleyes:

THIS SUCKS :mad:

Well the way i see it is that if you got 200XP instead of 2 then, because you can only get up to lvl 20 (i think), you would be at lvl 20 by the time you were in Luskan! What would you do for the rest of the time?! Kill monsters pointlessly? Where are you anyway? I am playing a straight ranger too and am at Beorunna's Well at lvl 16. And i didnt even go through the academy that would have gotten me up another 2 levels.

This is 3rd edition rules, and the monsters aren't worth as much in the game because there are MORE monsters in the game than there would be in a pen and papaer game! Bioware officially state that.

Having a henchman + animal companion + other summoned creatures decreases the XP-amount you get. Although, if you summon a low level creature (like when ur lvl 12 and summon a dire-badger) you will get more XP then the original number.

In your case you probably had a henchman and an animal companion with a high lvl.

Wurm, if you go into the toolset and check out the Official Campaign you'll find that Bio awarded about 10% of the XP for monsters that you would normally get in PnP, because you fight a hell of a lot more monsters in NWN than in PnP. Otherwise you'd hit the Level 20 ceiling by about halfway through the game. ;)

This option is customizable for module builders by the way - other module builders have it at 20%, or even 50%, especially if the module isn't that long and they want people to level up quickly.

2 xp seems a bit low though - only other thing I can think of is that you are playing under Insane difficulty?

</font>
Im playing core rules, in the last chapter, Im level 13 and a looooong way away from level 14. and I'm sorry but if a battle takes 7 mins, kills your henchman and involves a creature that you cant hit with less than a +3 weapon.. then you deserve more than 52 exp points. regardless of what Biowares says on the matter.. before I patched the game I was receiving more exp. per kill. And I also don't know about the game having more monsters than PnP AD&D.. you never played under my old DM One thing it has alot more of is locked chests :rolleyes: and another thing.. 2 exp points = kobold / goblin (maybe) but a MINOTAUR!?! you know large kickass bullheaded humaniod with horns and a huge axe!?! please its worth at least 65 exp points. Hercules wasn't given the task of killing a Minotaur as a breather between harder things to do....

There has definately been an XP cut since version 1.19. First time through using 1.19 I finished the game at level 19. Now, using every little XP trick I know and completing *more* quests that the first time, I'm going to be lucky to hit level 16. The XP system has been changed somewhere along the way.

Ummm... If you played PnP, you'd be getting a lot more experience. But then you'd have to do a lot more roleplaying and a lot less fighting... And like it or not, but as the average consumer couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel, and has an attention span of a mayfly...

Coming from a continent where people most don't think twice about eating at McDonalds... Let's just say, lowest common denominator, shall we...

And this has what to do with experiance points in a computer game?

One of the recent updates superficially changed the exp slider in the toolset's-> module properties->advanced, but I havent seen any evidence that the way exp is doled out in the sp campaign has changed in my playing experience. It continues to vary based on my level, and whether I have a henchman, familair, and/or summons along with me.
