I was thinking Red Tiger or Sharwyn the Bard?

Any Ideas?

That would depend on what class you are playing

Yourself being what class?
If you're anything but a cleric I'd say Linu for she's a good healer and has Turn Undead, which can be a great help.

They will all be there at the barracks - so just mix and match per situation again.

Red Lion? Dont you mean "Red Tiger"? I'd take Linu. She saved my char countless times. Having a cleric is invaluable. saves on potions too. of course that doesnt mean you SHOULDNT take any... it just cuts down on the cost of em. in fact, Ive been able to get tho WITHOUT buying a single potion . Besides, Linus an elf... and shes sooo hilarous... "second ride"... "Oh Linu, what happened to the first...?" hahahahha *cough* anyway... its up to u,

Oops sorry Im a ranger

I thought there might be alot of traps so having a thief/bard would be nice.

But I can't hear tomi's voice anymore after having him throughout most of chapter 1 ^_^

I'm a ranger too; rangers have only a few spells; of course, you CAN turn ur ranger into a theifish kinda guy (gal) if u want. I still say that healing is invaluable.

If you're talking the finale of chapter 1, I'd take Linu. She fights well, heals, and is strong against undead. In chapter 2, you will have access to all the henchmen. I've come to the conclusion that using several different henchmen in different areas works well. Use Linu or a combat one for a heavy combat area, then get Tomi to go open any chests that you couldn't open.

As a ranger, you can take anyone. My opinion (IMPORTANT: I PLAY HARDCORE RULES and it makes a difference) of the NPCs is:

Red Tiger - It must because he's a paper tiger and bleeds red blood. He just dies way, way too much for me.

Grimjaw - If you can stand his sick, twisted ways, he's the toughest fighter of all the henchmen. But he doesn't use missile weapons so area-of-effect spells will catch him as he charges into combat. Then, if he doesn't save, he'll try to kill you because he thinks you're going PvP on him.

Linu - Average fighter. But some of those cleric spells are terrific. Poor AI scripting, though. My advice for anyone is to set her to "missile weapons" and have her stand-off. She can be improved by using an add-on script. I find her the most "interesting" of the NPCs.

Sharwyn - Good support character. I think the best for all cleric/fighter types. Set her to missile because she's too lightly armoured to go toe-to-toe, despite what she thinks.

Tomi - He's really good in the early game, but fades mid-game. Too bad I've never had the stick-to-it-ness to see if he multi-classes to fighter or mage to improve his usefulness.

Boddlyknock - The knock ;) on him is that he dies. And he dies. And he dies. Oh, and did I mention that he dies? He's like a canary in a coalmine. Plus, he shoots his wad on the "spear carriers" and is spent when you face the "boss." Not amusing.

I think the greatest problem is that you always need something you don't have, such as having Sharywn and not being able to disable traps.

I think adding one level of sorcerer and choosing the faerie as your familiar is a great way around this. The faerie is better at locks and traps than Tomi. This also gives you the ability to use most of the scrolls and now you can pick a henchman without worrying about all those traps and locks.

One side note though, the familiar will decrease the XP you receive just like the henchman.
